The objective of this project is to apply the STEAMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Math, and Statistics) methodology in order to study how sleeping patterns impact the lifespan of various animals. Sixty two animals were included in this study, such as small animals like the little brown bat and golden hamster, large animals like the giraffe and elephant, and human beings. The data collected include gestation period, brain weight, lifespan and sleeping factors. Both multivariate linear regression and artificialneural network regression were used in this study. Neural network models are appropriate and most effective at revealing the relationship between lifespanand other variables such as gestation, brain weight, and sleeping patterns of these animals. It was found that brain weight is the dominant factor impacting the lifespan.
