STEAMS Application on Health Science Regarding Chronic Low Back Pain and Exercise Intervention4/15/2019 This paper will apply “STEAMS” methodology on Health Science regarding chronic low back pain and exercise intervention. The science research revealed Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a common, long-lasting, and disabling condition with high costs for society and patients. The prevalence of CLBP is globally calculated to be 9442.5 per 100,000(9%). Impairment of lumbopelvic stability is considered as a significant factor in patients with CLBP. Technology: Lumbopelvic stabilization exercise has been established as a treatment of chronic low back pain. Lumbopelvic stability was measured with a pressure biofeedback device. Engineering: 35 CLBP patients undertook a 6-weeks Specific Pilates Exercise Program emphasizing on lumbopelvic stabilization, posture training and body awareness. Low back pain can bother a person in many dimensions such as pain, limiting his/her daily activities and psychosocial activities. We used visual analogue scale, Oswestry Low Back Disability Questionnaire, pressure biofeedback device to measure them. Paired t test, box-plot, interval plot were applied to determined improvement or not after this exercise program and in which symptoms or disabilities. The AI clustering analysis grouped pain level and disabilities and investigate their correlation. Profiler and Sensitivity Analysis and AI neural algorithm were used to investigate a pain improvement predictive model. “STEAMS” methodology is very powerful to help conduct the health science research.
