OVERVIEW
Our mentorship program provides students aged 12-18 the opportunity to conduct research projects that aim to solve real-world problems, by implementing the STEAMS methodology. Under the mentorship of hand-picked advisors, students learn to connect all of the STEAMS elements in order to clearly define their project scope. We believe that the inquiry-based process of research can help students better pursue their interest, apply the academic skills they have learned, and understand how to navigate different challenges that may reappear later in life.
PRELIMINARY PROCESS
You will first meet with a student ambassador to help you understand the program and process and together formulate an initial project plan for you, depending on your time commitment, interests, knowledge, and devotion. After the meeting, you may be asked to do some preliminary work shortly before another meeting with an advisor, who will organize a short or long-term plan with you.
OVERVIEW
Our mentoring program is looking for current industry practitioners and researchers who want to continue polishing their own skills by aiding middle and high school students in the problem-solving process. We pair professionals with students based on your area of expertise and the student's interests and project topic. Advisors will not actually be working on the project but will instead meet with students periodically to answer questions that they may have and provide feedback on their work. Advisors can take on as many projects as they like, and the time commitment is roughly 1-3 hours per week for each project.
