This paper uses the “STEAMS” (Science, Technology, Engineering, ArtificialIntelligence, Math, and Statistics) approach to find the most appropriate car for drivers who need to drives a great number of miles and through a lot of traffic each day. Car physics (Weight, Turning Circle, Displacement, Horsepower, and Gas Tank Size) are used to find the safest car that does not use too much gas. Based on the Mosaic Plot and the Contingency Table analysis, USA and Japan have different market shares on car type. USA has a high share on larger cars and Japan has more on smaller cars. Strong positive correlations were observed among weight, displacement, horsepower, turning circle, and gas tank size as expected between larger cars and smaller cars. However, one negative correlation was observed between turning circle and horsepower. It’s not easy to select a car with high mileage per gallon (MPG) and also safety with a big gas tank. The optimal car type choice will depend on which criteria is more important. The car physics presented in this paper will help anyone who is considering to buy a new car from different perspectives.
