Dr. Charles Chen has over 15 years of industrial experience among research development, new product introduction, and product quality control in the hard disk drive industry. Charles has transitioned to the Healthcare/Medical Device Industry recently. Charles received his B..S. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Taiwan University and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. Charles holds 10 patents issued in the U.S. and over 15 technical papers. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and holds 14 ASQ certificates, including CBA, CRE, CSSBB, CSQE, CMQ/OE, CHA, CQE, and CQA. Charles has over 10 years of experience in counseling and teaching at all levels of management in the areas of DFSS, Design for Software, DMAIC, 8D, Design for Reliability, Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Control, Total Quality Management, Big Data Mining, Software Quality Engineering, JMP/Minitab. SPSS, R software, and ASQ Certification Exam Preparation Courses.

Patrick Giuliano is an ASQ-certified manager of quality and organizational excellence (CMQ/OE) and holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He holds over a decade of experience in medical device product development, manufacturing, quality and testing - in devices ranging from the the treatment of coronary/cerebral/peripheral vascular disease to heart valve dysfunction, and breast tissue reconstruction after mastectomy. He is currently a Senior Quality Engineer at Abbott Structural Heart in Menlo Park Ca, where he is the site subject-matter-expert (SME) and trainer in the application of statistics and the use of JMP software for the effective management and interpretation of engineering data using quality process methods.

Chuck Boiler is the US Systems Engineer Manager for JMP, a business unit of SAS. Since joining SAS, Boiler has held management roles with JMP and helped develop solutions for conducting many types of analysis, including design of experiments for the semiconductor industry, quality control for pharmaceutical manufacturing, and marketing applications for survey analysis using JMP software. He now works with field engineering staff and customers to help them solve problems and discover hidden opportunities in the data. Earlier, he worked as technical services manager and software quality assurance manager for Abacus Concepts.

John J. Flaig, Ph.D. is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and is the managing director of Applied Technology, a consulting, training, and publishing company. He is the Chair of the ASQ’s Statistics and Reliability group and was previously Program Chair for the ASQ's Annual Quality Conference, the Scholarship and Awards program, and the Education program. His industry experience spans more than forty years where he was employed in everything from small startup operations to some of the largest companies in the world such as Apple, Applied Materials, and Hewlett-Packard. He is Advisor to and Adjunct Professor for the International Technological University. In addition, he is Analytics Advisor to 1factory, and VP of Analytics and Professional Services for ActiveMiner, two small startup companies.
Jeff Upton

Jeff Upton is a Systems Engineer for JMP, a business unit of SAS, that specializes in desktop software for dynamic data visualization and analysis. Before joining JMP, Upton held engineering R&D positions with Roche Molecular Solutions, Synthetic Genomics, and Genentech. Working in these roles, Upton gained experience in assay development and validation, workflow automation, and data analysis and visualization using JMP. He received a B.S. degree in Biochemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and an M.S. degree in Engineering Management and Leadership from Santa Clara University.
Mason Chen

Mason Chen is currently a student at Stanford OHS and serves as the president and director of operations for STEAMS. Since its inception in 2014, he has held various roles, having directed the research program, led marketing initiatives and event planning, and more. Through STEAMS, he has authored on more than 20 conference proceeding papers. As first author, he has won numerous awards, including the Best Conference Proceeding Paper Award in the 2018 JMP Discovery Summit at age 13, and finished 1st Place three times at IEOM conferences. He has also certified the IBM SPSS Statistics Level I, II, Modeler Level I, and IASSC Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt.
